Police Collaborate With TNI To End Case Of Counterfeit Money Circulation Allegedly Involving Soldiers In Timika

JAKARTA - The Mimika Resort Police (Polres) cooperated with the Timika District Attorney (Kejari) and local TNI elements to thoroughly investigate the case of the circulation of counterfeit money which was suspected to involve a number of soldiers and civil society.

Mimika Police Chief AKBP Billyandha Hilde 23, Budiman said the formation of a joint team involving the three institutions was very important considering that the case of the circulation of counterfeit money in Timika was a criminal act of connectivity.

"We will continue to develop this case by forming a joint team with the prosecutor's office and the TNI. We have coordinated to immediately make a joint agreement letter," said Billy in Timika, Monday, confiscated by Antara.

Billy said some time ago his staff arrested an individual member of the TNI with the initials TMA with evidence of 68 counterfeit notes of Rp. 100,000 along with three cell phone units at a cafe on Jalan Budi Utomo Timika on Sunday, August 31.

From the development of the case, the police have also named a civilian with the initials AMS as a suspect. AMS was together with an individual with the initials TMA at the Cafe when the police carried out the raid.

"For the time being, only one suspect from a civilian, but we are still developing," said Billy.

The members with the initials TMA were immediately handed over to Sub Denpom XVII/Cenderawasih for further legal proceedings.
