3 Suspects Of Destruction Of The Batang DPRD Office During The Ricuh Demonstration Are Still Being Detained

The Batang Resort Police (Polres) in Central Java, continues to process the detention of suspects suspected of being involved in the case of destroying the local Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) office in a mass action on August 30, 2025.

"We are still in the process according to the rules. We have detained the three perpetrators and the other two perpetrators are not detained because they are minors," said Batang Police Chief AKP Imam Muhtadi in Batang, Monday, confiscated by Antara.

According to him, his party is still investigating the suspects in accordance with the provisions.

"However, we do not dare to confirm (whether it will continue to be detained) because it is the leadership's policy, especially if there is a letter (a request). So, (the case) we will process according to the provisions," he said.

The suspects will be subject to Article 170 of the Criminal Code, Article 406, and Article 372 of the Criminal Code concerning jointly committing violence against goods and fighting officers.

Previously, the Civil Society Alliance of Batang Regency visited the DPRD building which demanded the release of their colleagues who were detained after the mass action.

Representatives of the Civil Society Alliance of Batang Regency, Ata Alfannul Khasan, said that their movement was still solid with an agenda demanding changes, especially related to 17+8 specific points that focused on the role of local governments in facilitating small communities, especially in terms of economics and education.

"Regarding the detained colleagues, we demand unconditional release for the people arrested during the action because they only exercise constitutional rights to opinions and gather," he said.

He, who was accompanied by his colleague, Satriyo, said that his colleague's arrest and detention at the Batang Police Station felt strange.

"Mr. Kapolres that night promised to release all mass actions without conditions. However, the promise was not fulfilled because the next day our friend was arrested again," he said.
