Vice President Gibran No Longer Uses JPN To Face High School Certificate Lawsuit

JAKARTA - Vice President (Vice President) Gibran Rakabuming Raka, no longer uses the services of the State Attorney General (JPN) in facing a civil lawsuit trial related to high school diploma matters.

This was revealed when Gibran's legal team handed over the identity card to the panel of judges handling the lawsuit.

One of Gibran's attorneys, Dadang Herli Saputra, said that his client had appointed a professional advocate to represent him in court.

According to him, Gibran officially handed over his power of attorney to him in the form of a power of attorney as of September 9.

"No, we are professional lawyers. It's personal. We represent Gibran Rakabuming Raka," Dadang told reporters, Monday, September 15.

Regarding the special direction from Gibran who had given power of attorney, Dadang was efficient in speaking and only stated that there had never been any direction.

As for the progress of the trial, the panel of judges decided to postpone it until next week. Because the defendant has not completed the identity card.

"KTP from the Defendant (Gibran). If we (legal advisors) are complete," said Dadang.

The AGO has deployed the State Attorney (JPN) to accompany the Vice President, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, in facing a trial for a civil lawsuit related to high school diploma matters.

It is known that the lawsuit was registered by a person who is Subhan at the Central Jakarta District Court.

"It is true that today JPN from the Attorney General's Office represented the lawsuit addressed to Wapares where the lawsuit was addressed to the Setwapres because the vice president was sued, it became the authority of JPN as the State Attorney," said Anang Supriatna.

The JPN was handed over after the Attorney General received a special power of attorney regarding the lawsuit to represent Gibran.

"The Attorney General has received a Special Power of Attorney / SKK from the Vice President," said Anang.

Meanwhile, the lawsuit is registered with case number: 583/Pdt.G/2025/PN Jkt.Pst which was tried by the chairman of the panel of judges Budi Prayitno with members Abdul Latip and Arlen Veronica.

The inaugural trial related to the lawsuit was held at the Central Jakarta District Court, Monday, September 8, 2025.

The plaintiff asked the panel of judges to declare Gibran invalid as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2024-2029.

In addition, the plaintiff assessed that Gibran had never attended high school/equivalent school which was held based on Indonesian law, so that he did not meet the requirements in the registration of the vice presidential candidate in the last presidential election.

The plaintiff asked the panel of judges to punish Gibran and the KPU for paying material and immaterial losses of Rp125 trillion and then deposited it into the state treasury.

Regarding the progress of the trial, the panel of judges decided to postpone it until Monday, September 15, 2025. The reason was that Gibran's camp was deemed absent.

Actually, the JPN team has been present to represent Gibran. However, the lawsuit from the plaintiff was directed at Gibran personally, not the vice president's position.
