Bogor Municipality Places Officers In TPU Ban While Making Grave Pilgrimage

BOGOR - Bogor City Government prohibits grave pilgrimage activities on Eid al-Fitr holiday on May 12-16. The local government placed officers from Satpol PP to guard at the entrance of the public cemetery (TPU) in Bogor City.

Head of Satpol PP, Agustian Syah, said officers were stationed at TPU Blender in Kebon Pedes Subdistrict, Tanah Sareal Subdistrict, Bogor City. There are 12 guarded entrances.

"We are also implementing safeguards in other LANDFILLs," he was quoted as saying by Antara on Thursday, May 13.

According to Agustian Syah, Satpol PP acted according to the direction of Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto by putting forward persuasive steps and no sanctions.

"We urge the citizens to temporarily do not make pilgrimages to the tomb. This is to avoid the transmission of COVID-19," he said," he said.

Previously, the Mayor of Bogor Bima Arya issued a Circular Letter on Guidelines for Welcoming Eid al-Fitr 1442 H/2021 M during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Bogor City. In the circular, among others, set the question of a temporary ban on grave pilgrimage, on the Eid al-Fitr holiday 2021.

"Do not let because of community activities in the month of Ramadan and Eid holidays, there is a spike in positive cases of COVID-19. This policy, the implementation is difficult, but this is the maximum endeavor to prevent crowds," he said.
