JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Alex Indra Lukman, stated that his party would summon the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Sakti Wahyu Trenggono following the viral video of a concrete embankment in the Cilincing coastal area, North Jakarta.

"The initial information received by Commission IV of the DPR, the concrete embankment that stretches about 23 km on the Cilincing coast, is part of the DLKr DLKp Marunda Port," said Alex, Friday, September 12.

For information, the Environment Area (DLKr) is a land and water area that is used directly for port activities. Meanwhile, the Environmental Area of Interest (DLKp) is the waters around it that are used to ensure shipping safety. Simply put, DLKr is the core area of port operations, while DLKp is a supporting zone.

Based on a report received by Commission IV of the DPR, Alex said that the construction of the embankment was part of a port development plan by a domestic investment company (PMDN).

"This concrete embankment is planned to be used as the port location for a PMDN company (domestic investment)," he said.

"From the initial reports we received, they have obtained permits. In addition, the location is also stated to be in accordance with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation No. 7 of 2024 concerning Regional Spatial Planning (RTRW)," added Alex.

Although the licensing document was declared complete, the leadership of the DPR commission in charge of marine affairs emphasized that Commission IV would continue to follow up on public complaints. Of course, said Alex, as long as it is still within the scope of the DPR's authority.

"We will confirm to the KKP whether the waters around the concrete embankment are intended for fishermen to go to sea," said the legislator from the West Sumatra I electoral district.

"If it is for fishermen, of course we will ask to review the permits given," concluded Alex.

The beginning of the existence of the concrete embankment in Cilincing came from a 1 minute 9 second video of netizens uploaded on social media X.

The video shows concrete standing long on the coast of Cilincing with a length of 2'3 kilometers. Fishermen also complained about the existence of the concrete because it made it difficult to pass.

The existence of a concrete embankment in the Cilincing coastal area, North Jakarta is managed by PT Karya Citra Nusantara (KCN).
