Gibran Meets Bali Flood Refugees: Government Will Help Recovery

DENPASAR - Vice President (Vice President) of the Republic of Indonesia Gibran Rakabuming Raka calmed the flood refugees and ensured that the government was present to make improvements after being affected by natural disasters in Denpasar, Bali.

"This is being assessed at the level of damage, the important thing is that all of you are calm, this will be assisted by the government, regional heads and BNPB heads," said Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Banjar Refugee Command Post, Tohpati Denpasar, Bali, as reported by ANTARA Friday, September 12.

The Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia arrived at the evacuation post at around 10:00 WITA, then immediately sat down in a row and had a dialogue with the refugees.

Gibran also briefly spoke with Deputy Governor of Bali I Nyoman Giri Prasta, Mayor of Denpasar I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara and Perbekel (village head) Kesiman Kertalangu, Denpasar Made Suena.

On that occasion, the refugees also expected recovery efforts, including damage to houses and places of business, as well as flood resolution solutions due to rampant development.

"Many developers have drainage closed from former projects," said one resident on the sidelines of a dialogue with the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia.

During the visit, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia also distributed aid packages, one of which contained toiletries, towels and toys for children as well as stationery, to fast food and toddler needs.

Vice President Gibran left the Banjar Tohpati refugee post at around 10.30 WITA, to go to the disaster site and other evacuation posts in Denpasar.

Previously, based on data from Perbekel (village head) Kesiman Kertalangu I Made Suena, currently as many as 70 families (KK) or 124 people are affected by flooding.

However, of that number, 20 families or 28 people still live in the evacuation posts.

"The condition of their residence is not ready to be occupied, because it is wet and is in the cleaning stage," said Suena.

Also accompanying the visit of Vice President Gibran, including the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Suharyanto, the Head of the Bali Police, Inspector General of Police Daniel Adityajaya, the Commander of the IX Military Regional Command (Kodam) Udayana Major General TNI Piek Budyakto, and other Regional Leadership Communication Forums.
