Reviewing Museums In Banyumas And Cilacap, Minister Of Culture Emphasizes Museum As A Form Of Preservation For The Preservation Of History And Values Of Local Wisdom

BANYUMAS - Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon, made a working visit to Central Java. This visit is part of the Ministry of Culture's commitment to preserving local wisdom-based culture as well as an important momentum in highlighting the rich culture that lives in the midst of society in the region.

Starting the visit, Menbud Fadli Zon visited the Kalibening Heritage Museum which holds historical heirlooms. Located in Kalibening Hamlet, Dawuhan Village, Banyumas District, Menbud was greeted by the manager of the Kalibening Pusaka Museum, Agung Triyatno.

The Kalibening Heritage Museum collection is a donation from local residents with 724 heirloom collections, consisting of keris, swords, sticks, ancient books and others.

On this occasion, the Pusaka Kalibening museum is carrying out the heritage tradition, namely the ritual of cleaning and caring for ancestral heritage objects such as keris and spears, which is carried out as a form of respect for the ancestors and preservation of cultural and spiritual values. This ritual is generally carried out once a year in the month of Suro (Muharram), but at the Kalibening Pusaka Museum, this tradition was carried out in the month of Maulid. Menbud Fadli Zon emphasized the importance of conservation at the Kalibening Heritage Museum so that this ancestral heritage can be maintained properly.

In addition to the Kalibening Heritage Museum, Menbud Fadli Zon also visited the Soesilo Soedarman Museum located in Gentasari Village, Cilacap Regency, Central Java. The Soesilo Soedarman Museum was inaugurated in 2000 as a tribute to the late General Soesilo Soedarman (1928 1997). General Soesilo Soedarman, was born on November 10, 1928 in Cilacap and died on December 18, 1997, was a high-ranking Indonesian military officer who also served as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in the Development Cabinet VI (1994-1997), Minister of Tourism, Posts and Telecommunications in the Development Cabinet V (1988-1993), as well as the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States (1986-1988).

The Soesilo Soedarman Museum has a collection of memorabilia, military artifacts such as weapons, official cars, military uniforms, articles, and a collection of photos of Soesilo Soedarman during his life as an Indonesian National Army Officer and a public official at the Ministry.

On this occasion, Menbud Fadli Zon emphasized the importance of preserving the historical heritage of national figures, If we look at the museum which is based on a journey like Pak Susilo Soedarman, it can also be followed by other figures and also by his heirs. We can inherit an extraordinary history and many stories that are not lost, "he said.

Also accompanying Menbud Fadli Zon on this visit included the Indonesian Ambassador to the United States as well as the curator council of the Soesilo Soedarman Museum, Indroyono Soesilo; Deputy Regent of Cilacap, Ammy Amalia Fatma Surya; and Director of the Soesilo Soedarman Museum, Apolini Purini. The ranks of the Ministry of Culture who accompanied include the Director General of Cultural and Traditional Protection, Restu Gunawan; Special Staff to the Minister of Protocol and Household Affairs, Rachmanda Primayuda; Special Staff to the Minister for Legal and Intellectual Property, Putri Woelan Sari Dewi; Special Staff to the Minister for Cultural Diplomacy and International Relations, Nissa Rengganis; and the Head of the Cultural Preservation Center (BPK) Region X, Manggar Sari Ayuati.

This cultural visit is an important reflection moment to continue to improve the quality of museums in Indonesia so that it not only becomes an educational space, but also a place to preserve the history and values of local wisdom. The government through the Ministry of Culture is committed to making museums a center for cultural, historical and traditional protection that can be utilized across generations.
