Vice President Gibran Asks For Acceleration Of Development Of 100 Red And White Fishing Villages

BATAM - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka asked the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono to accelerate in building the Red and White fishing village (KNMP) at various points, according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction.

Gibran said that in the cabinet meeting and the last limited meeting with President Prabowo at the Jakarta Presidential Palace, Trenggono was mandated to immediately realize the KNMP which is included in one of the Presidential priority programs.

"According to the President's message and orders at the cabinet meeting and the final meeting, the Minister still has homework to build fishing villages at various points," said Vice President Gibran, quoted by ANTARA, in Batam, Wednesday, September 10.

Gibran asked the Chairman of Commission IV DPR RI Siti Hediati Hariyadi or Titik Suharto and the Head of the Special Development and Investigation Control Agency (Bappisus) Aris Marsudiyanto, who were also present on the occasion to oversee the President's program.

Based on the information gathered, the KKP will make 100 Red and White Fishermen's Villages as the initial stage this year.

"Please control this later. Later from the Chairman of the Commission, the Head of Bappis is also monitoring, monitoring so that this program can run well. This has great potential and without your support, ladies and gentlemen, it is impossible for all of this to run well," said Gibran.

Overall, the KKP targets the construction of 1,100 Red and White Fishermen's Villages in stages until 2027, with a target of 100 villages by 2025 to improve coastal welfare and the national marine economy.

The program was specially designed to change the face of coastal villages and cultivation villages to be more productive and integrated in producing competitive fishery products, such as in Kalamo, Biak, Papua.

KKP has a model in building KNMP such as in Samber-Binyeri Modern Fisherman Village (Kalamo), Biak Numfor, Papua. The village was replicated as a model in the construction of the Red and White Fisherman Village in all parts of Indonesia.

The Red and White Fishing Village (KNMP) program was presented as a strategic step to turn traditional fishing villages into modern, productive and highly competitive areas.

Therefore, the KKP will also build supporting infrastructure for fishery activities, to social infrastructure for fishermen in one area.
