Still Pandemic, Anies Baswedan Reminds Gathering Can Use Technology

JAKARTA - Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan understands that many people miss making direct contact with their families in their hometowns.

However, he warned that this is the second time Muslims in the country should celebrate Eid al-Fitr in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thus, all parties without exception must refrain and keep themselves from mobility. This must be done to prevent the transmission of the virus in the community.

"We all realize that the atmosphere of Eid must save the longing visit with our loved ones, with parents, with family in the hometown. But, we are still faced with a situation where we have to take care of ourselves", Anies said in an impression uploaded to his Instagram @aniesbaswedan, Thursday, May 13.

He also suggested that anyone who wants to make a deal should be able to take advantage of existing technology.

"To protect our loved ones from exposure to COVID-19, that is why this celebration is expected that we all remain in contact but make use of technology to reduce direct interaction in contact", he said.

Anies hopes this year's Eid al-Fitr can bring blessings. "God willing we are victorious. Really win people whose discipline can really win against COVID-19", he said.

Adding Anies statement, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Riza Patria wants the people of Jakarta to continue to comply with health protocols. The goal is for life in the Capital to return to normal.

He also appreciated the whole community, especially those who perform worship outside the home. Because they have carried out health protocols well so that slowly the mosque began to return to carry out worship activities.

"Alhamdulilah this year we have started slowly to carry out worship in Ramadan in the mosque by carrying out strict health protocols", Riza said.

But he still reminded anyone to stay home during the pandemic and carry out all protocols to prevent transmission of the virus.

"We urge people to stay home, avoid crowds, be disciplined in wearing masks, and wash their hands", he said.
