JAKARTA - West Java (Jabar) Governor Dedi Mulyadi ensured that the West Java Provincial Government would repair the impact of the collapse of the roof and wall of the SMKN 1 Cileungsi building, Bogor Regency.

Dedi said the repairs began tomorrow by building a new classroom for SMKN 1 Cileungsi after collapsing today, Wednesday, September 10.

"Starting tomorrow, the West Java Provincial government will build a new classroom so that children can return to normal learning in their room," said Dedi Mulyadi through his official social media account, Wednesday, which was confiscated by Antara.

According to Dedi, the provincial government's quick steps to build a new classroom are very important so that the teaching and learning activity process is not disrupted for too long. He emphasized that education is the main priority of his government.

The construction of a new classroom is scheduled to begin as quickly as possible with a target completion of the remaining 2025 time.

"We still have September, October, November, and December. We have to use that time to complete the construction," he said.

He said the effort was made so that students of SMKN 1 Cileungsi could return to school safely and comfortably, because the availability of proper study rooms is a basic right for all students.

Dedi also highlighted the quality of the construction of SMKN 1 Cileungsi which was said to have been built in 2016. He considered the poor quality of construction to be the cause of the school's roof collapse even though the building had not been established for too long.

"It is certain that the quality of the construction will be bad if the roof collapses. For that I have asked the inspectorate to conduct an inspection, including who built it. Everyone must be responsible," he said.

In addition to technical instructions, he emphasized that the education sector is a top priority in its leadership. He invited all parties, both government and society, to jointly maintain the sustainability of the world of education in West Java.

The Head of the Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Bogor Regency, Ade Desired at the scene, said that the roof and wall of the SMKN 1 Cileungsi building, Bogor Regency, West Java, collapsed on Wednesday morning when teaching and learning activities took place, causing at least 31 students and teachers to be injured.

The incident occurred at around 09.15 WIB in Limus Nunggal Village, Cileungsi District. At that time, grade 10 and 12 students were taking lessons, then suddenly the roof and walls of the classroom collapsed.

The BPBD report noted that there were four affected rooms, consisting of two classrooms and two meeting rooms. A number of students who were in the room were crushed by the rubble before being successfully evacuated by teachers and joint officers.
