BOGOR - In the midst of the challenges of the global food crisis and the need for more efficient agriculture, the precision irrigation company from Israel, Netafim, is trying to open up new roads for Indonesian farmers. Together with its distribution partner, PT Agrohood Sahabat Nusantara, Netafim held a seminar entitled Precision Irrigation Solution at the Santika Hotel Bogor, Thursday 4 September.
This event presented more than a hundred greenhouse-based agricultural actors from various regions, both directly and online. The atmosphere of the seminar felt alive, when the speakers discussed the future of Indonesian agriculture which no longer depends on conventional methods.
One of the main highlights is the introduction of GrowSphere technology, the latest automation system that has been integrated with artificial intelligence. GrowSphere is claimed to be able to help farmers manage irrigation and nutrition in a precise manner, conserve water and fertilizer, as well as increase crops.
Sam Tindhar, Director of Southeast Asia Netafim, opened the event with an emphasis on Indonesia's great opportunities in modern agriculture. Indonesia has extraordinary potential. We are present not only as a provider of technology, but also long-term partners for farmers, agribusiness actors, and the government," he said.
Netafim, who this year celebrates his 60th anniversary, is known as the pioneer of world droplet irrigation. In Indonesia, they not only offer technology, but also invest in local research and build farmers' capacity through training and technical assistance.
In the next session, the Country Commercial Manager of Netafim Indonesia, Alghienka Defaosandi, explained products that support modern greenhouses. There is a PCJ Pro, a high-performance emitter with a consistent water distribution; Flexbow, a flexible solution for fast installation; and Uniram Hybrid, a durable drop irrigation system with anti-closing technology.
These products are not just tools, but real solutions to answer productivity and sustainability challenges, he said.
The Global Agrionomist Netafim, Orian Shalev, brings a different perspective. He emphasized that the success of horticultural production, such as melons, tomatoes and peppers, does not only depend on irrigation technology.
Export standards demand quality consistency. With a precision approach from seed selection to distribution, Indonesian farmers can compete in the global market," he explained.
GrowSphere and a series of other products are said to be able to increase yields by 30 percent, while reducing the use of water and fertilizer by 40 percent. These figures provide hope, especially for small farmers who have had difficulty maintaining efficiency and competitiveness.
President Director of PT Agrohood Sahabat Nusantara Yuslifar, added that his party is ready to support the availability of Netafim products throughout Indonesia. Agrohood, known as the pioneer of urban agriculture and greenhouses, according to him, wants to ensure that farmers have full access to technology as well as a full-sale service.
"This collaboration is expected to reach thousands of farmers and agribusiness actors who want to transform towards data-based agriculture and efficiency," he said.
With the spirit of collaboration, this seminar seems to be an overview of Indonesia's agricultural future: smarter, more resource-efficient, but still productive and globally competitive.
