Today, DPR Promises To Discuss Claims 17+8 With Every Faction In Parliament

JAKARTA - After meeting student representatives at the Parliament complex, Senayan, Jakarta on Wednesday, September 3, the DPR promised to discuss the 17+8 demands of a number of elements of society with each party faction on Thursday, September 4.

"In the 17+8 demand, we will hold an evaluation meeting with faction leaders to unite opinions and agreements in the DPR," said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Wednesday night.

Dasco explained that a number of demands submitted in the 17+8 had been followed up. Among them is removing housing allowances for council members worth IDR 50 million per month, which triggers public outrage.

Meanwhile, another demand, namely the request to release the demonstrators arrested by the police, Dasco is still studying each of the articles suspected.

"We will see cases per case if it can be communicated, then we will communicate," he explained.

Furthermore, Dasco added that his party had also communicated with the government to convey the aspirations of the students. It is planned that student representatives will be accepted at the State Palace on Thursday, September 4 as a follow-up to the hearing with the leadership of the DPR today.

"Earlier I contacted the minister of state secretary, but I don't know who will accept the students tomorrow. But the government, they will be contacted later," concluded Dasco.
