10 Illegal PMIs Prevented By Police At Soetta Airport Promised To Work As Admin Judol, Salary Of IDR 10-20 Million

TANGERANG - The City Police (Polresta) of Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta), Polda Metro Jaya, again thwarted the attempt to depart 10 illegal Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) to Cambodia.

Kasatreskrim Soekarno Hatta Airport Police Commissioner Yandri Mono said the attempt to thwart this illegal PMI was carried out in the area of Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (Soetta), Tangerang, Banten.

This failure began with the security of two suspects who acted as recruiters and accompanied illegal PMIs when they were leaving for Cambodia.

"The two suspects that we have secured act as recruiters and accompany them to take care of the non-procedural PMI departure process," he explained in Tangerang, Wednesday, September 3.

According to him, from the results of this disclosure, there were 10 PMIs and three of them had worked in Cambodia as online gambling admins, so one of them was named a suspect for inviting other victims to come to Cambodia to work as an online gambling admin.

Yandri said that the CPMIs were recruited through social media with the lure of a fantastic salary of Rp. 10 million to Rp. 20 million per month.

"The information they convey via Facebook contains job vacancies in Cambodia," he said.

As for the recruitment mode, it is carried out through a special group, where the victims do not know each other.

After the victims sent the message in response to the ad on Facebook, recruiters collected data and promised jobs as online gambling admins in Cambodia with a large salary.

"The interested victims were asked to send documents to take care of their passports. Interestingly, the victims were not asked to pay any fees, but were facilitated, including making passports," he said.

Meanwhile, Kanit I Jatanras Soekarno Hatta Airport Police, Ipda Herman Slamet, explained that the disclosure of this case began when officers patrolled Terminal 2 of International Departure on Monday, August 26, 2025, at around 11.48 WIB.

At that time, officers found 10 young men, ranging from 23 to 30, suspected of being prospective non-procedural migrant workers (CPMI).

"They want to fly using Viet Jet Air VJ 854 on the Jakarta 'Ho Chi Minh route. Their ultimate goal is Cambodia to work as admins for online gambling non-procedurally," he said.

From the results of the examination, it was known that three of the victims had previously worked in Cambodia and were on their way home on leave. "They then invited their colleagues to take part," he said.

Herman revealed the role of the two suspects arrested, namely, the first suspect helped the departure process at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Where, they get a profit of IDR 7 million.

The second suspect, played a role in providing information related to work and salaries in Cambodia, assisting passport management and departing with CPMI to Cambodia.

The two suspects, said Herman, were charged with Law Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers with a maximum threat of 10 years in prison and Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons (TPPO) with a maximum threat of 15 years in prison.

"Currently, all victims and evidence have been secured to the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police for further investigation," he said.
