18,651 Palestinian Students Killed Since Israel's October 2023 Aggression

JAKARTA - The Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and Education announced on Tuesday that some 18,651 students of the country were killed and 29,114 injured since the start of Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank on October 7, 2023.

The Ministry of Education clarified in a statement Tuesday that the number of students killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the aggression has reached more than 18,508 people and injured have reached 28,142 people, quoted from WAFA September 2.

While in the West Bank, 143 students were killed, 972 others injured, and 792 detained.

Further statements estimated that around 972 teachers and administrators were killed, 4,538 injured in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and more than 199 detained in the West Bank.

The ministry also noted 172 state schools were completely destroyed in the Gaza Strip, in addition to 63 university buildings. A total of 118 public schools and more than 100 UNRWA schools were bombed and damaged, while occupational aggression left a total of 25 schools and students and teachers removed from the education list.

While in the West Bank, 152 schools were damaged, and 8 universities and universities were targeted by raids and vandalism repeatedly.

Separately, medical sources confirmed Tuesday that the death toll of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 has risen to 63,633 while about 160,914 others have reported injuries.

This figure includes the death toll from hunger and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip which has reached 361 people, including 130 children.

Since the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) declared a hunger disaster in the Gaza Strip on August 22, 2025, 83 deaths, including 15 children, from hunger and malnutrition.
