The police arrested a resident of Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, with the initials HRS (25), who allegedly burned the Transjakarta bus stop in the Senayan area during a demonstration in central Jakarta, Friday, August 29, 2025.

"Arrested last night," said Mampang Prapatan Police Chief Kompol Wahid Key, ANTARA.

Wahid said HRS is an ordinary citizen who is known to be active in the local environmental cadets. The arrests were made after the police received public reports and traced the digital traces of the perpetrators on social media.

Currently, the case has been transferred to Polda Metro Jaya for further investigation. The police suspect that there are other perpetrators involved. The Mampang Police accompanied members of the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of the Metro Jaya Police in the arrest of the perpetrators," said Wahid.

Previously, a viral video on platform X showed a man wearing a black jacket and a white helmet throwing an object suspected of being a Molotov cocktail at a non-BRT Transjakarta bus stop. Shortly after the bus stop caught fire, the man was seen running away with a motorbike rider with license plate number B 3940 VAO.

It is known that irresponsible persons burned the Transjakarta Polda Metro Jaya bus stop during a demonstration took place on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, South Jakarta, Friday, August 29, 2025, evening. In addition, the entrance to Istora MRT Station was also damaged by the masses.

Responding to the damage to public facilities, Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Rano Karno stated that the DKI Provincial Government will immediately repair damaged bus stops. "As a form of service, Transjakarta and MRT rates are free for the next week," he said.
