Police Name 4 Suspects For The Provocation Of The Bogor Brimob Headquarters Attack

Bogor Police have named four people as suspects in the case of provocation of the attack on the Cikeas Brimob Headquarters, after previously securing 17 suspected perpetrators in a security operation in Bogor Regency, Saturday, August 30 evening.

Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto explained that the four people had an important role in the planned attack that circulated through provocative pamphlets on social media from day to night.

"Suspect M acts as a provocateur as well as carrying sharp weapons. Digital evidence and evidence of sajam strengthens his role in this case," said Wikha at a press conference at the Bogor Police Headquarters, Cibinong, quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, August 31 evening.

The first suspect with the initials M, a resident of South Tangerang, acted as a provocateur and was caught carrying two sharp weapons. From his cell phone, the police found a digital pamphlet inviting him to attack the Cikeas Mobile Brigade Headquarters.

The second suspect, AS from Bogor, prepared incitement posters that would be attached around the Brimob location to provoke the crowd. The poster was secured as evidence of alleged sedition.

Then, RP from Bogor, arrested after carrying a bottle of Pertamax fuel prepared for arson. The police charged him with an attempted arson.

Meanwhile, BS, the fourth suspect, was proven to have spread provocative messages in the WhatsApp group containing an invitation to attack and kill the authorities. He also distributed digital pamphlets to a number of parties.

The four suspects were charged with various articles, ranging from the ITE Law, articles of sedition in the Criminal Code, to the Emergency Law related to possession of sharp weapons, with the threat of sentences varying from six to 12 years in prison.

Meanwhile, 13 other people who were also arrested are still undergoing in-depth examination. The police said they were arrested in a small group, there were two of them, three of them, and four.

"The inspection process is still ongoing. We want to map this provocation network more clearly, because they do not come from one single group," said the Police Chief.

He explained that the examination also received direct support from the team from the Directorate of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri who came down to assist the Bogor Police in investigating the case.
