The Deactivation Of Ahmad Sahroni And Nafa Urbach Realized The Responsibility Of The NasDem Party To The Public

JAKARTA Political observer, Sugiyanto appreciates the steps taken by the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh who disabled Ahmad Sahroni and Nafa Urbach from membership of the NasDem Party faction in the DPR, after being deemed to have participated in triggering a series of demonstrations from August 25-30, 2025 which ended in chaos.

According to him, with the statement or official decision from party leaders, at least there is an effort to reduce turmoil while at the same time treating public disappointment. This kind of step may be able to ease public wounds while restoring people's trust.

Even though it was only deactivated, the decision was expected to slightly dampen and treat public disappointment or anger. At least, Surya Paloh's steps can prevent the public spotlight on other members," said Sugiyanto, Sunday, August 31, 2025.

He stated, in the current situation and conditions, Surya Paloh's decision could be called a real step to assist the government's efforts as well as support President Prabowo Subianto in reducing public anger. Because, if demonstrations continue, the stability of the state and nation can be disrupted, and even have the potential to pose greater risks to the Prabowo government.

"With this step, the NasDem Party certainly hopes that the public will judge if the decision is not only an internal disciplinary matter, but also a form of moral responsibility for a political party to the people. This step can also show the seriousness of the party to maintain the honor of the legislative body, restore public trust, and uphold the integrity of democracy," he explained.

Previously, the Secretary General of the NasDem Party DPP, Hermawi Taslim, confirmed that his party's decision to deactivate Ahmad Sahroni and Nafa Urbach from the Nasdem faction membership in the DPR which took effect Monday, September 1, 2025.

In an official statement signed by Surya Paloh and Hermawi Taslim, the NasDem Party revealed that Sahroni and Nafa's deactivation was carried out after observing the dynamics that developed in the community, following a statement from the two of them which was considered offensive to the people.

"There is a statement from the people's representatives, especially members of the Indonesian House of Representatives from the NasDem Party faction which has offended and hurt people's feelings, and this is a deviation from the struggle of the NasDem Party," said an official statement issued by the NasDem Party DPP.
