There Are 171 Students Who Want To Demo August 28 Arrested By Bogor Police, Police Chief: More For Fomo

The Bogor Polres Polda West Java secured 171 students from various schools in Bogor, Depok, and Tangerang who were suspected of going to Jakarta to take part in a demonstration, Thursday, August 29.

Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto said the students were detained at several points, namely the Bogor Police SS Hall as many as 137 people, Parung Police 20 people, and Tenjo Police 14 people. They were arrested while trying to get to Jakarta via arterial and station lines.

"On average, those who are secured are still vocational students. They have bought tickets, they are likely to go down to Palmerah or Blok M. There are also those who try to disguise themselves by wearing civilian clothes outside, while their uniforms are worn inside," said Wikha at the Bogor Police Headquarters, confiscated by Antara.

From the results of the gadget examination, it is known that invitations to participate in actions spread through manufacturers on social media and school groups. However, the police ensure that there are no indications that the invitation is massive or structured. "More to the photo or just follow along," he said.

In the SS Hall of the Bogor Police, students who were detained came from a number of schools, including SMK Insan Kreatif (20 people), SMK Mutiara Insani (11 people), SMK Generasi Mandiri (7 people), SMK Tri Dharma 1 Bogor City (18 people), up to nine people who did not attend school.

As for the Parung Police, students who were detained came from schools in Bogor, Depok, and Tangerang, including SMK Taruna Terpadu 1, Pondok Petirin School Depok, Darussalam Depok Islamic High School, to SMK Al Mubarok Tangerang. Meanwhile, at the Tenjo Police, there were students from SMK PGRI Koleang Jasinga, SMK 1 Curugbitung Lebak, and SMK Pembangunan 2 Jambe Tangerang.

The Bogor Police confirmed that no dangerous items were found from the students who were secured. All of them are still in the process of being examined and collected data, and are given guidance before being handed back to their parents and the school.

"We have called parents with the school to pick up the children. This step is so that it becomes a lesson and does not happen again," said Wikha.

He added that preventive measures will continue to be carried out by the police with supervision and education among students. Hopefully, they will not be easily provoked by calls on social media that have the potential to endanger themselves or disrupt public order.
