4,123 Travelers Positive For COVID-19, House of Representatives: Don't Force Yourself To Homecoming

JAKARTA - Police conducted random COVID-19 tests on people who traveled during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming ban. The result, quite astonishing. As of May 6, 4,123 travelers were declared COVID-19 positive.

Vice-Chairman of the House of Representatives Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar was concerned about the findings. Muhaimin also asked people not to force themselves to go home and celebrate Eid al-Fitr at home.

"Please don't push yourself. Look at the events in India, do not let what happened in India also happen in Indonesia. Obey the government's exhortation, not to homecoming", Muhaimin said On Tuesday, May 11.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives' COVID-19 Disaster Management Supervisory Team urged the authorities in the field to increase supervision. Because, at some point of the homecoming flow, there are piles of travelers who are still trying to break through the police guard.

"Officers in the field must be firm, do not soften. If necessary add officers in the field. Because if there are still many who are allowed to escape then later others will also breakthrough", said Gus Ami.

Known, from Operation Ketupat 2021, the number of travelers who randomized testing more than 6,742 people. Of those confirmed positive for COVID-19 as many as 4,123 people, 1,686 people were self-isolated. Then, 75 people received treatment.
