Prabowo Willpidato At The 80th UN General Assembly Session Mid-September

JAKARTA - Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi said President Prabowo Subianto would address the first day of the 80th United Nations (UNGA) General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States, on September 23, 2025.

Regarding the material of his speech, Hasan said that PCO had not been able to provide any information, and invited the public to listen directly when the President was present and gave a speech at the United Nations Headquarters.

"The president is scheduled for a speech on the first day and third place on September 23," Hasan Nasbi was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 27.

President Prabowo, if he later flew to New York, September, will be the first President of the Republic of Indonesia to return to speech at the UN General Assembly at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, USA, in the last 10 years.

The 7th President Joko Widodo, in his 10 years of leadership, chose not to attend the UN General Assembly, and delegated the then foreign minister, Retno L. P. Marsudi, to address Indonesia.

At the UN 80th General Assembly in September, President Prabowo is scheduled to make a third speech after Brazilian President Luiz Inighcio Lula da Silva, and United States President Donald Trump.

Dino Patti Djalal, former deputy minister of foreign affairs and former Indonesian ambassador to the United States, told reporters in Jakarta, Monday (25/8), assessing the third order given to Indonesia in a speech session at the UN General Assembly had significant diplomatic weight.

"First, the context of diplomatic weights, this has never happened, the President of Indonesia spoke number 3. If number 1 is definitely America, it cannot be changed. Number 2 is definitely Brazil, because that's the deal. So who after that, suddenly Indonesia. This is something extraordinary, extraordinary honor," said Dino Patti Djalal.

He then believed that President Prabowo's speech was eagerly awaited by other UN member countries, because Indonesia, which adheres to active and non-block free positions, is close to Western countries, but is also part of Global South, and is also close to Eastern countries.

"We have feet everywhere. So, what President Prabowo has said will be seen by many people, especially now that we see between the West and BRICS, between America and China, the Indo-Pacific is now having a lot of shocks, multilateralism is very weak. America out of various multilateral agencies has made multilateralism transform," said Dino Patti Djalal.

Therefore, he also hopes that President Prabowo can provide input to UN member countries regarding the world order in the future, and emphasize multilateralism. "I think his speech at the United Nations will be very much considered by people, and have great strategic value," said Dino.

The United Nations 80th General Assembly was opened on September 9, 2025, and lasted nearly a month. Two months since the opening ceremony, the High-Level General Debate session, which is a series of 80th General Assembly Sessions, was held on September 23, 2025. In the high-level debate session, member state leaders took turns giving speeches at General Assembly Hall, New York United Nations Headquarters.

The debate session took place from September 23, 2025 to September 27, 2029, and continued on September 29, 2029. The series of UN's 80th General Assembly Session lasted until September 30 with the final agenda of the High Level Conference on Situations experienced by Rohingya Muslims and Other Minorities in Myanmar.
