Today, DPR Leaders And Commission XIII Meeting To Discuss Royalty Polemic

JAKARTA - The leadership of the DPR and Commission XIII will hold a joint meeting to discuss the royalties polemic. The plan is that the meeting will be held at the Legislation Body or Baleg at the Parliament complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta today, Wednesday, August 27.

"Tomorrow's meeting with the leadership and Baleg at 13.00 WIB," said Chairman of Commission XIII DPR Willy Aditya when contacted, Tuesday.

Willy explained that the meeting was held to study problems in royalties. He said the problem would determine the policies that would be taken by the DPR.

"Our formulating team will meet first to create a problem map," he said.

He added that if the issue of royalties does not revise Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright, these rules will not be changed.

However, Willy could not confirm this considering that the revision of the Copyright Law had been included in the national legislation program or prolegnas.

"That's why tomorrow we will try to meet to then categorize from this problem whether this is an institutional problem, whether this is an administrative problem, or a fundamental problem," he said.

Previously, the DPR agreed that the discussion on the Revision of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright or the Copyright Bill would be completed for the next 2 months.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad after holding a consultation meeting on the polemic of royalties at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Thursday (21/8/2025).
