JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an examination of the Regent Pati Sudewo, at the Red and White Building, KPK, Jakarta, today, Wednesday, August 27. This examination is related to the alleged corruption of the railway line construction project in the Solo area, which is managed by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

The examination is a reschedule after Sudewo was not present at the previous call, Friday (22/8/2025), citing other scheduled agendas.

The KPK continues to investigate Sudewo's alleged involvement in the rail line construction project in Central Java, based on evidence and facts of the previous trial. Sudewo is even said to have received IDR 720 million in cash in September 2022 and part of a bribe of IDR 18.39 billion, which is 0.5% of the project value of IDR 143.5 billion.

In addition, the KPK also confiscated Rp 3 billion from Sudewo's residence. Although Sudewo denied accepting bribes, he claimed that the money came from salaries as a member of the DPR and the proceeds from personal businesses.

Sudewo's name appeared in the trial of two defendants for bribery for a rail project, namely: Putu Sumarjaya (Head of the Central Java Railway Engineering Center (BTP Jabateng), then there is Bernard Hasibuan (official commitment maker (PPK) BTP Jabateng).

Sudewo is suspected of receiving a flow of funds while serving as a member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2019-2024 period, which has a function of supervision and budgeting for the infrastructure sector.

Although Sudewo has returned some of the money suspected of being the result of corruption, the KPK confirmed that the refund of the money did not abort the crime. This is in accordance with Article 4 of the Corruption Crime Law.

"The return of money does not erase the sentence. The legal process will continue," he said.

According to Acting Deputy for Enforcement of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, his party is still waiting for the completion of the handling of railway projects in other areas such as West Java and Jakarta.

Sudewo is suspected of having a role in almost all train line projects on the island of Java, not only in Solo.
