Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, First Admiral (Laksma) TNI Tunggul, said that his party was investigating allegations of abuse that caused the man with the initials GS to die in Pekanbaru, Riau.

"The ranks of the Indonesian Navy in the Dumai area participated in the investigation process because they were suspected of involving Indonesian Navy personnel who served in the TNI Headquarters," said Tunggul in a press statement in Jakarta, Antara, Tuesday, August 26.

Tunggul emphasized that the case would be handled professionally in accordance with legal provisions to ensure justice for all parties. Currently, the perpetrator with the initials MZ has been arrested and questioned by the Navy Military Police (POM AL).

"Denpom Lanal Dumai Tengah secured the personnel and helped collect information and look for evidence for alleged abuse reported by the victim's family," he said.

The persecution incident occurred on Friday, August 15. GS is said to have been abused on suspicion of theft.

After that, GS was taken to the police station for legal proceedings, then returned to his family on August 16. The victim died on August 23, 2025.
