CIREBON - Cirebon City Police, West Java, is investigating the alleged spread of edited photos using artificial intelligence (AI) technology that dragged a number of students in the area as victims and suspected perpetrators.
Head of the Cirebon City Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Adjunct Police Commissioner Fajri Ameri Putra, said that his party immediately moved after receiving initial information regarding the case of the spread of the exciting photo on Friday, August 22 evening.
"As soon as the information from our media partners was conveyed to us, we immediately responded quickly by conducting an investigation," said Fajri, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 26.
He explained that until now, there were several victims and suspected perpetrators who had visited the Cirebon City Police, but until Sunday (24/8) night only one official report was made by the victim.
However, the examination of the victim in the report has not been carried out because legal assistants asked for a reschedule the following day.
"We still open space whenever for people or victims who want to make a report," he said.
According to him, the number of victims or suspected perpetrators has not been confirmed because the investigation is still ongoing and the police are still waiting for additional reports from other parties.
Several victims have shown evidence in the form of photos of AI edits, while other victims have just submitted information from other people without visual evidence.
Fajri emphasized that the material circulating was in the form of photos, not videos. The photo is the result of AI engineering by combining students' faces into other people's bodies that lead to pornographic content.
"From the initial information, the victim's face was taken, then attached to a different person's body," he said.
He admitted that there were technical problems experienced by a number of victims who wanted to report, for example, colliding with school hours and tutoring activities. However, his party still provides concessions so that they can submit complaints.
Although only one official report has been submitted, the investigation of this case is already underway and his party has issued a letter of assignment to speed up handling.
"We always follow up on every development. Last night there were also victims who came and had been investigated," he said.
The police are still gathering information from the victim and mapping a series of actions committed by the alleged perpetrator, whether it is limited to producing or contributing to spreading engineered content.
