JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the market digitalization program being intensified by the Jakarta Provincial Government has contributed to boosting Jakarta's economic growth.

Last quarter, Jakarta's economic growth was recorded at 5.18 percent, higher than the national average of 5.12 percent.

"This means growth is above the national average," Pramono said on Monday, August 25.

According to Pramono, digitalization is key to reviving the capital's traditional markets, including Tanah Abang Market, which had been sluggish.

"Digitalization is inevitable. If there's no competition, no competition, and no market monitoring, there will definitely be no leap," Pramono said.

Pramono cited the example of digital transactions at Santa Market, which have surged by more than 40 percent since the digitalization program. He noted that QRIS usage in the 20 markets participating in the competition has increased by almost 47 percent, and the number of NPWP users has also increased from 1,720 to 2,129.

"As evidenced by the judging results, QRIS usage in the 20 markets increased by 47 percent in just 20 days of the competition," he explained.

Pramono stated that the benefits of digitalization not only increased transactions but also reduced crime in the markets.

"Pickpocketing has definitely decreased. What are they trying to steal? Thuggery is also slowly decreasing," he said.

Pramono also appreciated the collaboration between Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and Perumda Pasar Jaya. Thanks to the digitalization competition, several major banks, such as BRI, Mandiri, BNI, BCA, and Bank Jakarta, participated in the competition to provide modern transaction services for traders.

"Because it's human nature to not want to lose. So the banks competed, and thank God, the results were optimal," he said.

For your information, the market digitalization competition ran for 20 days, from July 22 to August 10, 2025, with 20 markets under Pasar Jaya's guidance as pilot projects. The competition assessment process will be conducted in two phases: Period I from July 22-25, 2025, and Period II from August 6-10, 2025.

The competition assessment is divided into two aspects: the Market Aspect, assessed by a panel of judges from relevant regional government agencies (OPDs), and the Banking Digitalization Aspect, assessed by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia based on reports from participating banks.
