BPJS Kesehatan Premium Increase in 2026? CEO Passes It to Sri Mulyani

BANDUNG - Ali Ghufron Mukti, President Director of the Social Security Agency (BPJS Kesehatan), suggested that the consideration of increasing BPJS Kesehatan membership fees starting in 2026 be inquired about and confirmed with Finance Minister Sri Mulyani.

Ali Gufron stated that the statement did not come from his office, so it would be better to inquire with the original source on this issue. The source in question was Sri Mulyani, who stated that there would be a BPJS rate adjustment starting in 2026.

"The BPJS President Director has never said that. Please ask her," Ali Gufron said, as quoted by ANTARA.

However, Ali considered it a good and positive decision if it were implemented. "That's good," he said.

Previously, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati stated that the BPJS Kesehatan premium rate adjustment was intended to maintain the sustainability of the program.

"The sustainability of the National Health Insurance (JKN) will depend heavily on the benefits provided to participants. If the benefits increase, the costs will increase," said Sri Mulyani at a Working Meeting with the House of Representatives' Budget Committee (Banggar) in Jakarta on Thursday (August 21).

With the tariff adjustment, Sri Mulyani said, the number of Premium Assistance Recipients (PBI) could also be increased.

However, the government will also consider the capabilities of independent participants.

"Therefore, we are providing a partial subsidy for independent participants. Independent participants are still IDR 35,000, if I'm not mistaken; it should be IDR 43,000. So, the IDR 7,000 is paid by the government, especially for Non-Wage Participants (PBPU)," added the Minister of Finance.

Regarding further decisions regarding the BPJS Kesehatan premium rate adjustment, Sri Mulyani stated that further discussions will be held with the House of Representatives (DPR), the Minister of Health, and the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS Kesehatan).

The health budget in the 2026 Draft State Budget (RAPBN) is allocated at IDR 244 trillion.
