JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung revealed that the DKI Provincial Government is intensifying market digitization, where the sale and purchase transactions of markets in Jakarta are carried out digitally using the QRIS system.

According to Pramono, if digital transactions are increasingly being carried out in traditional markets, he is confident that the level of crime will decrease. This is because the digitalization of the market will minimize people bringing cash.

This was revealed by Pramono during the announcement of the 2025 market digitization competition at Tanah Abang Market, Central Jakarta.

"One of the advantages of using digitalization is that pickpockets will definitely decrease. Want to pickpocket, what will be picked up if everything is digital? Thugs will also slowly decrease," said Pramono, Thursday, August 21.

In addition to reducing the crime rate, Pramono also assessed that market digitization could optimize regional tax collection.

"The benefits for the Jakarta government will definitely be automatic, because the transactions are open, the taxes will also get good results," said Pramono.

Pramono revealed that the use of QRIS as a buying and selling transaction in the market has recently continued to increase. This is also in line with the records of Bank Indonesia, where QRIS transactions in Jakarta contributed around 43-45 percent of the total national QRIS transactions.

"I am sure that if this is the whole market for us, there will definitely be an extraordinary spike and it will be very profitable for the market itself, for consumers, for the Jakarta government," he added.
