DKI Transportation Agency Disbursed The Cause Of Severe Traffic Jams On Jalan TB Simatupang

Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, explained why Jalan TB Simatupang, South Jakarta often experienced severe congestion and residents complained about it.

Syafrin said, currently there are a number of projects that are carried out at the same time to use part of the road on Jalan TB Simatupang and its surroundings.

"Indeed, at several points the project will be implemented, it will co-opt the traffic space, so there is only one lane there. The density is certainly very severe," said Syafrin at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Thursday, August 21.

Syafrin explained that there was work to increase the capacity of the drinking water pipeline of Perumda PAM Jaya starting from the Pasar Minggu intersection to Ampera.

Then, from the Ampera area to the Shell Fatmawati gas station on Fatmawati Raya Street, there is the work of the Jakarta Sewerage Development Project (JSDP) or the construction of a wastewater treatment plant carried out by Perumda Paljaya.

Then, from the Shell Fatawati gas station to Jalan RA Kartini, West Cilandak, work is being carried out on the excavation of the integrated utility network system (SJUT) by the Highways Office.

In addition, there is a bottleneck or narrowing of the road due to the off-ramp JORR Toll Road at kilometer 21 on Jalan TB Simatupang.

"In the afternoon, it causes a high density because they usually go out of the toll road directly crossing into Fatmawati Street to the south," explained Syafrin.

Therefore, the Transportation Agency handles, one of which is by diverting part of the sidewalk area to a temporary road body so that traffic is more decomposed.

"We will take a few sidewalks, especially those at TB Sumatupang, in the Cibis Park area. So that the width of the traffic lane, at least we can return two lanes," said Syafrin.

On the other hand, Syafrin appealed to the public to use alternative routes to avoid congestion points or use public transportation in mobility.
