Ricuh Demo Rejects UN Increase In Bone, Regency Government Decides To Postpone New Tariffs

BONE Unjuk rasa menolak kenaikan tariff Pajak Bumi dan Bangunan Perdesaran dan Perkotaan (PBB-P2) di Kabupaten Bone, Sulawesi Selatan, berakhir keruh dan menyebabkan sejumlah aparat berjurus. Incident terjadi pada Selasa malam, 19 Agustus 2025, di depan kantor Bupati Bone.

The riots began during a dialogue between the masses of action and the local government did not find a common ground. The crowd then attacked the ranks of the authorities and threw stones. The police responded by firing tear gas to disperse the crowd.

As a result of the clashes, four members of the Satpol PP and one policeman were injured in the head due to stone throwing. The victims were immediately evacuated in a condition covered in blood, while the officers who survived with shields continued to try to push back the masses with tear gas.

Protests were triggered by news of an increase in PBB-P2 to 300 percent. However, the Bone Regency Government confirmed that the information was not true. According to the initial plan, the increase was only 65 percent.

The Acting Secretary of Bone, Andi Saharuddin, said that the government finally decided to postpone the increase in tariffs. "After we observed, communicated, and shared parties, the leadership told us to postpone and conduct a total evaluation," he said.

He hopes that this decision can reduce tensions as well as open up an evaluation room so that regional tax policies are more in accordance with community conditions. "Hopefully this momentum can be a lesson. Our people should not be provoked," he added.

Until this news was revealed, the mass of action had withdrawn to their post. Police officers and Satpol PP are still on standby around the regent's office to anticipate further action.
