Minister of Health Budi Targets In June Able To Inject Vaccine 1 Million Doses Per Day

JAKARTA - Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said the government will begin to increase the capacity of national COVID-19 vaccination.

In June, Budi hopes Indonesia will be able to inject 1 million doses of vaccine in one day. This is a target of President Joko Widodo since a few months ago.

"After Eid, we immediately encourage more vaccinations to be able to go up. If we can, we try to touch 1 million per day month in June", Budi said in a Youtube impression of the Presidential Secretariat, Monday, May 10.

Currently, there have been 13,340,957 people who have injected the vaccine in the first dose. Then, 8,634,546 second-dose vaccine injections.

Budi admitted that in recent times, the stock of vaccines has been depleting. However, recently the government again got additional vaccinations. Thus, Indonesia can currently secure about 75 million vaccines.

"Our stock will rise again this May. So, my message to all the authorities in our area is starting to get pushed again. Because, our vaccine capacity is now enough", he said.

Furthermore, Budi appreciated the three provinces that can vaccinate the elderly with rapid progress. These provinces are DKI Jakarta, Bali, and DI Yogyakarta.

"We will provide additional vaccines so that they can quickly resolve because the elderly are the critical ones. I thank the provinces of Bali, DKI Jakarta, and Jogja which have been relatively high injections of elderly", said Budi.

So that these three provinces in question have gradually begun to be opened for injection of general public groups, ranging from the slum of Citizens Association and red zone areas or high risk of COVID-19.

"Hopefully this can be a motivation for other provinces, the injection of the elderly is quickly completed. Because the sooner it is completed, the sooner we will open this vaccination to the general public", he explained.
