JAKARTA - The Israeli military said it had targeted the location of the energy infrastructure used by the Houthis in the south of Yemen's capital Sanaa. Israeli media reported Haziz's power plant had been attacked.
The Israeli military said the attack was a response to the Houthis' repeated attacks on Israel, including missile and drone launches to its territory.
The attack on the Haziz power plant near the capital was carried out by the Israeli navy on Sunday, August 17.
The Houthi-run Al Masirah TV reported the power plant was hit by an "aggression", which caused some of its generators to malfunction. Residents reportedly heard two explosions.
The TV did not mention the source of the attack. Officers managed to extinguish the fire, Al Masirah reported citing the deputy prime minister.
Israel bombed Yemen in response to the Houthi attack on Israel.
The Yemeni group fired missiles at Israel, most of which had been intercepted, as a form of support for Palestine during the war in Gaza.
The United States and Britain also previously launched attacks on the Houthis in Yemen.
In May, the US announced a surprise deal with the Houthis agreeing to stop the military bombing operations against them in exchange for an end to the group's attack on ships in the Red Sea.
But the Houthis say the deal does not cover Israel.
