Prabowo Addresses Annual Session, Police Urge Residents to Avoid DPR/MPR Area

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto will deliver a speech at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). In this regard, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) has urged the public to avoid the DPR-MPR building area due to the potential for increased activity in the surrounding area.

The appeal was conveyed by the Instagram account @tmcpoldametro in a post. The public and motorists are asked to seek alternative routes.

"For the sake of smooth traffic, we urge road users to consider alternative routes and follow the directions of officers in the field," wrote the account @tmcpoldametro, quoted on Friday, August 15.

The annual afternoon security series, or the MPR Plenary Session, will begin at 7:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time and will continue until completion.

The 2025 MPR Annual Session will discuss the development of the Principles of State Policy (PPHN), which has been finalized by the MPR team.

MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani explained that the president requested that the PPHN be reviewed and refined before deciding on the appropriate legal product for its implementation.

It is hoped that the PPHN can serve as a long-term development direction that ensures continuity between government periods.

However, the Secretary General of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Siti Fauziah, stated that the PPHN will not be read at this session. The President will still study the document further before resubmitting it to the MPR.

"No (it will be read). If there is a follow-up to the PPHN, it will still be reported to the President. So, the President is still studying it, and then any further details will be submitted to the MPR," said Siti Fauziah.
