BLITAR - Police Resort (Polres) Blitar, East Java, handled a case of abuse by residents in Umbuldamar Village, Binangun District, Blitar Regency, against victims of local village officials.

Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Blitar Police, AKP Momon Suwito Pratomo, said that the incident on Wednesday (13/8) began when the victim named Maruwan (58), an Umbuldamar Village device, burned leaves of garbage in his field which was right with a land boundary belonging to the perpetrator, M (62).

"The perpetrator reprimanded the victim who asked not to burn the leaves in that place, because later the fire could spread to the plants. The victim answered that it was okay, then a quarrel occurred," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 14.

The perpetrator then came to the victim with a sickle that had previously been brought by the perpetrator.

Out of fear, the victim ran away from the perpetrator. However, the victim stumbled and fell in a supine position on the ground.

Seeing that, the perpetrator then swung his sickle at the victim who had fallen. The victim then reflexively fended off the attack using his right hand.

As a result of the reflex, the victim's hand suffered a cut as deep as approximately two centimeters with a width of 15 centimeters and bleeding.

The victim screamed in pain with what happened to him, while the perpetrator immediately fled from the scene.

"Knowing this, the perpetrator then ran away from the victim, and the victim stood up and returned home who then reported the incident to the Binangun Police," he said.

The police who received the report went directly to the location and conducted a search for the perpetrator. He was arrested at his home in Kedawung Hamlet, Umbuldamar Village, Binangun District, Blitar Regency.

The police took the perpetrator to the office for further investigation. For now, the victim, who is also a village apparatus, has received medical treatment.

Officers confiscated a number of evidences used by the perpetrators. The perpetrator is currently in detention and charged with Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning Persecution.
