Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Romo Syafii expressed his full support for accelerating the transition of Hajj from the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) to the Hajj Organizing Agency (BP Hajj) which is targeted to be completed by 2026.

This step is considered in line with President Prabowo Subianto's direction in determining the full transfer of Hajj management as one of the government's priority programs.

"This transition is not only a regulatory mandate, but also a political commitment of the government under President Prabowo's leadership. The Ministry of Religion is ready to ensure that the process runs quickly, orderly, and without reducing the quality of service to the congregation," said Romo, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, August 14.

Romo explained that this transfer is the implementation of President Prabowo's vision and mission to provide professional, transparent, and technology-based Hajj services.

BP Haji is expected to be an institution that is fully focused and dedicated in realizing international equivalent service standards.

Deputy Minister of Religion, Romo Syafii, admitted that he had been appointed directly by the Minister of Religion (Menag) as the Head of the Transitional Team until finally there was a change. However, he emphasized that he still fully supports and is ready to cooperate with all parties.

"As long as the regulations are still at the Ministry of Religion, in every process of preparation for the 2026 Hajj, the Ministry of Religion must improve communication and coordination with BP Haji, because this is President Prabowo's mandate," he said.

The Ministry of Religion will maximize 2025 as a preparation period while waiting for the ratification of the Hajj Bill (RUU) as legal umbrella. All work units have been directed to synergize with BP Haji in administration, technology systems, to diplomacy with the Government of Saudi Arabia.

Romo also ensured that there would be no service pause during the transition; systems such as Siskohat and services in the regions will be handed over gradually but quickly so that by 2026 all of them are ready to be used by BP Haji.

"The DPR is expected to accelerate the discussion of the Hajj Bill so that the transitional legal umbrella can take effect immediately. The sooner the regulations are passed, the more effective we are in working," said Deputy Minister of Religion Romo Syafii.
