PENAJAM - Penajam Paser Utara Resort Police (Polres), East Kalimantan, confiscated 135.89 grams of crystal methamphetamine from 18 suspects from the 2025 Mahakam Antique Operation.

"All suspects are detained at the police headquarters cell for further legal processing," said North Penajam Paser Deputy Chief of Police Commissioner Awan Kurnianto in Penajam, Antara, Wednesday, August 13.

Awan explained that the dozens of suspects involved in drug abuse and trafficking were charged with Article 114 paragraphs (1) and (2), as well as Article 112 paragraph (1) and (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a minimum threat of five years in prison.

Five of the 18 suspects are known to be recidivists or have been caught in drug cases before.

The suspects were of productive age, between 17 and 30 years old, with various job backgrounds, ranging from housewives, students, laborers, drivers, to unemployed.

"Five recidivist people are threatened with harsher punishment," said Awan.

Of the 18 suspects arrested, one of them is a woman.

According to Awan, the ranks of the North Penajam Paser Police Narcotics Investigation Unit (Satreskoba) revealed nine drug cases during the Mahakam Antique Operation which was held from July 18 to August 7, 2025.
