JAKARTA - A total of 16,000 guests were invited to attend the Seconds of the Proclamation and Lowering of the Flag in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the number consisted of 8,000 people who were invited to the morning ceremony and 8,000 more at the afternoon ceremony.

"In the morning, there were 8,000, even though the public were very enthusiastic to attend," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, as reported by Antara.

Prasetyo ensured that the invitation had been fulfilled according to the available capacity.

Therefore, Prasetyo also apologized for the limited place that some people who were enthusiastic about participating in the celebration at the Merdeka Palace could not be accommodated.

"Many people want to be present to celebrate but once again because of the limitations of places that cannot all be accommodated," he said.

Regarding the presence of national figures such as the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri and the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, Prasetyo said that this could not be revealed at this time.

"Wait for the game date," he said.

On that occasion, Prasetyo also stated that his party did not oblige the public to wear traditional clothes when attending the Ceremony.

The Minister of State Secretary explained that participants of the official invitational route ceremony are expected to wear traditional clothes.

However, the general public is not required to wear traditional clothes, but he hopes for the spirit of celebrating the independence of the Indonesian Independence Day by wearing red and white clothes.

"The important thing is the spirit, the nuance is that if you are at home, you may have a red shirt, there is a red and white color, you use it," said Prasetyo.

On the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia at the Palace, Prasetyo revealed that various performers from elements of society, agencies, to art groups took part. This is because input and ideas to enliven events at the Palace from various circles continue to emerge.

"There are those who then propose to add this. And for us, the committee, as long as it can be accommodated, does not interfere with core events, main events, there is no problem. Because everyone's enthusiasm wants to participate," he said.
