Upset By Disgrace, Children In Mandailing Natal Stab Mother To Death

MANDAILNG NATAL - Parental advice is usually a living shield, but for MS (38), a resident of Huta Toras Village, Pakantan District, Mandailing Natal, North Sumatra, his mother's lecture actually triggers tragedy. Because he was often scolded for taking drugs, MS was desperate to slash his mother, Suharni Lubis (61), to death.

The incident took place at the end of July at around 06.30 WIB. At that time, Suharni was sleeping on the floor of the living room of the house. MS, who was at home, took a machete from the kitchen, then attacked his mother many times. After launching the attack, he just left the house.

The Mandailing Natal Police Chief, AKBP Arie Sofandi Paloh, said the victim's body was found by residents who immediately reported to the police. Satreskrim officers moved quickly, conducted crime scenes, examined witnesses, and arrested MS shortly thereafter.

"The motive was that the victim often scolded and advised the suspect to stop taking drugs. The suspect did not accept it and felt annoyed," said Arie, Friday, August 8.

The results of the urine test revealed that MS was positive for consuming methamphetamine. The police also confiscated machetes used to attack the victim.

Now, MS is in the detention cell of the Mandailing Natal Police. He was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 15 years in prison.
