JAKARTA - The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Aceh Province has proposed 4,829 prisoners to receive remissions or a reduction in the sentence for Eid al-Fitr 1442 Hijriah. The proposed remission ranges from 15 days to two months.
"For this year's Eid Al-Fitr, there are 4,829 out of 6,990 prisoners in Aceh who are proposed for remission. Of the 4,829 prisoners, 4,820 of them are proposed to get RK I and nine others are RK II," said Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Aceh Province, Meurah Budiman, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, May 8.
Meurah Budiman said the proposed Eid remission was submitted to the Director-General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia in Jakarta. From 4,829 prisoners, said Meurah Budiman, 2,629 of them were convicts of general crimes.
Then, there were 2,193 convicts related to Government Regulations (PP) No. 99/2012, namely criminal acts of drugs, corruption, and terrorism. As well as seven prisoners related to Government Regulation Number 28 of 2006.

"Class IIA Banda Aceh Prison proposes 456 prisoners to receive Lebaran remission. Consisting of 15 people remission for 15 days, 226 people remission for one month, 155 people for 1.5 months remission, and 155 prisoners for remission for two months," said Meurah Budiman.
Meurah Budiman said the conditions proposed for remission were of good character proven not being disciplined in the last six months.
"For terrorism, drug and corruption convicts, there are additional requirements, they are willing to help law enforcers to uncover crimes committed, pay fines and compensation for state losses and have participated in the deradicalization program," said Meurah Budiman.
