Ahead Of The Re-Pilkada Papua, The Biak Numfor Situation Is Observed To Be Conducive

BIAK - Kapolres Biak Numfor, Papua, AKBP Ari Trestiawan ensured that the situation of security and public order (kamtibmas) in his area was very conducive ahead of the implementation of the Papuan Pilkada Re-voting (PSU) which will be held on August 6, 2025.

"Alhamdulillah, until now the situation in the city of Biak and its surroundings is very conducive. This must be maintained together by the community so that the implementation of the PSU can run smoothly according to schedule," said AKBP Ari Trestiawan in Biak, Antara, Tuesday, August 5.

In the context of securing the PSU, the Biak Numfor Police have deployed 310 personnel to 19 districts and 345 polling stations (TPS). Ari hopes that the presence of the police can provide a sense of security and support the success of the implementation of the PSU simultaneously in Papua.

Meanwhile, KPU RI Commissioner Idham Holik said that the PSU logistics had been distributed by the Biak Numfor Regency KPU to all polling stations and electoral committees at the district level. He ensured that all logistics had arrived on time and were ready to be used on voting day.

"We make sure all logistics arrive according to schedule so that they can be used at the Papua Pilkada PSU," said Idham.

The readiness for the implementation of the PSU was also conveyed by the Deputy Regent of Biak Numfor, Jimmy CR Kapissa. He said the conditions in the Biak area were very safe and even a barometer for the implementation of PSU in Papua.

Jimmy emphasized that all logistical needs for 345 polling stations have arrived and are ready for use by officers.

Based on data, the number of voters remaining in the November 27, 2024 Pilkada in Biak Numfor Regency was recorded at 100,874 people, consisting of 49,705 male voters and 51,169 female voters spread across 345 polling stations.

PSU Pilkada Papua will bring together two candidate pairs. Pair number 1 namely Benhur Tomi Mano and Costan Karma, while pair number 2 consists of Mathius D Fakhiri and Aryoko Alberto Rumaropen. As of Tuesday afternoon, community activities in Biak Numfor Regency were observed to be normal.
