Minister Of State Secretary Reminds One Piece Flag Implementation Will Not Disturb The Sacredness Of The Republic Of Indonesia's Anniversary

JAKARTA - Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi reminded that the phenomenon of raising the pirate flag from the Japanese community, OnePieckem towards August 17, 2025, does not interfere with the sacredness of the commemoration of the INDONESIAN 80th Anniversary.

"We hope that this August, we will not be tarnished by sacred things. This is the 80th anniversary of our independence," said Prasetyo Hadi as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, August 4.

He admitted that he had no problem raising the One Piece flag as a form of freedom of expression, but what became a problem was being ridden by certain parties for an interest, for example encouraging the raising of flags other than the Red and White on the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.

"As a freedom of expression and there is no problem, the problem is that for example there are parties who then use these creativity for things that in our opinion should not happen," he said.

"For example, then taking advantage of this creativity to appeal to fly the flags other than the Red and White flag, that's not true," he continued.

According to him, raising the flag other than the Red and White on the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia as a form of disappointment with the government should not be done in a way that reduces the sacred values of independence.

"I also as personally appeal to let us together, we love our Republic as it is, under any circumstances, the spirit must be positive, expression. Earlier, for example, there was disappointment, it should not be shown in such a way. It does not have to be," he said.

Because, he said, the government is currently working hard to continue development in order to realize the ideals of the founding fathers of the nation in the midst of global dynamics full of challenges.

"Even if today there are conditions in our nation that apologize for not what is expected, yes we, all of us, let's work hard to realize the ideals of the proclamation of independence, realize the ideals of the nation's founders," he said.

Responding to the assumption that the government's reaction was too excessive to the One Piece flag-raising phenomenon, Prasetyo also invited the public to focus on enlivening the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia with a positive spirit.

"Don't exaggerate, we are the Red and White, raising the Red and White flag as high as possible. In the sea, divers fly. In the air, fly. The spirit is positive for the nation and state," he said.

He also appealed to all elements of the nation to unite and appreciate the sacrifices made by the heroes of the previous nation to achieve Indonesian independence by not doing things that interfere with the sacredness of Indonesian independence.

"We must be optimistic as children of the nation. There is a problem, let's face it. Indeed, the world is not doing well. We, too, have opened up to all inputs, all criticisms," he said.

Recently, the public has been enlivened by the phenomenon of raising the pirate flag from the Japanese manga series,One Piece, ahead of the Indonesian 80th Anniversary on August 17.

The fictitious flag has a black background and skull, as well as two bones that cross behind it. The white skull with a smiling expression is decorated with a yellow straw hat typical of the main character of One Piece, Monkey D. Luffy.

As of Saturday (2/8), some of the fictitious flags appear to be installed at a number of points in various regions in Indonesia. While on social media, a number of users replace their profile photos with the anime flag logo.
