The Third Batch Of AstraZeneca Vaccines Will Be Distributed Immediately

JAKARTA - Indonesia is again receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. This vaccine was obtained from the multilateral COVAX Facility, totaling 1,389,600 doses of vaccine.

Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said that this vaccine is the third batch of the COVAX Facility and is a finished vaccine or ready-to-use vaccine. To note, previously there were 1,113,600 doses of finished vaccines on March 8, and on April 26, 3,852,000 finished vaccines.

"Indonesia received the third batch of vaccines from the multilateral route from the Covax facility. The AstraZeneca vaccine in the form of finished vaccines is 1,389,600 doses. In addition, on May 6, it has preceded 55,300 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine, thus the number of vaccines for the third batch this week from Covax facility amounting to 1,444,900 doses of vaccine so Astrazeneca", he said in a press conference broadcast on the Youtube channel of the Presidential Secretariat, Saturday, May 8.

Retno said the total Asrtazeneca vaccine in the COVAX or multilateral route that had arrived in Indonesia was 6,410,500 doses of the finished vaccine. Meanwhile, overall, the COVID-19 vaccine that has been secured by Indonesia from the start to this day amounts to 75,910,500 doses of vaccine.

The details are of the Sinovac vaccine totaling 68,500,000 doses, AstraZeneca from the COVAX Facility 6,410,500 doses, and Sinopharm vaccine for 1 million doses.

Furthermore, Retno said that Indonesia really understands that efforts to fulfill commitments to equal access to vaccines for all countries are not easy. Because of this, the COVAX Facility continues to work with the support of the GAVI, WHO, CEPI and partnering with UNICEF, for the fulfillment of equal vaccines for all countries.

"We appreciate these efforts. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Indonesia has consistently advocated equal access to vaccines for all. Indonesia also supports the elimination of patents for the COVID-19 vaccine to boost world production capacity for vaccines", he said.
