Three Died In Accident On Cipali Toll Road, Police Investigate Cause Of Tragic Incident

JAKARTA - A tragic accident occurred again on the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road in the early hours of Sunday, August 3. A Suzuki Ertiga minibus with police number B 1308 NKM crashed into a tronton B 9921 KIT truck which was stopped on the shoulder of KM 187+200. As a result of the incident, three people were reported to have died and three others were injured.

According to information from the Head of Gakkum Unit of the Cirebon Police Traffic Unit, Iptu Mei Hadi Kusuma, the accident occurred at around 05.05 WIB. The minibus vehicle that came from Jakarta to Central Java is suspected of trying to overtake other vehicles from the left side. However, this effort ended badly when the minibus lost control and hit the back of the tronton truck which was stopped.

The vehicle hit the back of a tronton truck that was stopped on the shoulder of the road, explained Iptu Mei when met in Cirebon, Sunday, August 3.

The violent collision caused three minibus passengers to die even though they were rushed to Arjawinangun Hospital, Cirebon. They are SR (32) and K (61), both residents of Cirebon Regency. One other victim has not yet been identified and is currently still in the process of identifying the police.

In addition to the fatalities, there were three injured victims, including a minibus driver with the initials AN (35), a resident of South Tangerang. Two other passengers who suffered injuries were R (61) and a 2.5-year-old child. All three are now receiving intensive care at the Sentra Medika Gempol Hospital, Cirebon.

After the incident, the Cirebon Police immediately secured two vehicles involved and took them to the Palikanci PJR Office as evidence. The police have also asked for information from the truck driver with the initials S (44), a resident of Subang Regency, and an eye witness at the scene.

"The material loss due to the accident is estimated at around Rp. 30 million," added Iptu Mei.

Until now, further investigations are still being carried out to determine the exact cause of the accident. Including an examination of the condition of the truck that stopped on the shoulder of the road and the alleged negligence of the minibus driver.

"For this incident, we urge all toll road users to always be careful, especially when they want to precede other vehicles. Obey signs and maintain mutual safety," said Iptu Mei.

This accident adds to the long list of fatal traffic incidents on the Cipali Toll Road, which often occur due to the negligence of drivers and violations of driving ethics. The police hope that this incident will serve as an important reminder for the public to be more disciplined in traffic, especially on toll roads that have high speed and risk of fatal accidents.
