Prabowo Gives Amnesty To Hasto, Kenneth PDIP: Not An Easy Decision, But A Form Of Moral Courage

JAKARTA - PDI-P politician, Hardiyanto Kenneth, assessed that President Prabowo Subianto's decision to amnesty Hasto Kristiyanto was an attitude of statesmanship in responding to the dynamics of law and politics.

Kenneth considers that Prabowo's decision is also a reflection of maturity in politics, as well as a commitment to the spirit of national reconciliation.

"Let me express my highest respect and appreciation to the President of the Republic of Indonesia, General TNI Purnawirawan Prabowo Subianto for his statesmanship and great spirit in responding to the political and legal dynamics that are currently coloring the democratic journey of our nation," said Kenneth to reporters, Saturday, August 2.

This member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD said that this step shows Prabowo as a national figure who has high political sensitivity, clarity of thought, and great enthusiasm to maintain national stability and strengthen unity.

"Mr. Prabowo Subianto's steps show an open, solution and uphold the spirit of reconciliation. This is not an easy decision, but this is a manifestation of moral courage and determination in placing the interests of the nation above all else," he said.

According to him, granting amnesty is not just a legal action, but is a political decision that shows a long-term vision in maintaining social and democratic cohesion. He considered that Prabowo had shown the quality of being a true statesman, not only as a party leader or government elite.

"This amnesty is not just a matter of law. It is a matter of political attitude that is far ahead. The courage to forgive and embrace is a true power in building the nation," explained Kenneth.

Kent also said that the Secretary General of the PDI-P DPP, Pak Hasto Kristiyanto, even though his political journey did not escape controversy, was still an important part of the national democratic process.

"I also highly appreciate the struggles and sacrifices of the legal advisory team of the Secretary General of the PDI-P DPP Pak Hasto Kristiyanto, who has carried out his duties not only as a legal defender, but also as a guardian of constitutional dignity and democracy. The courage to speak up, explain the position of law straightforwardly, and reject political intervention in the legal process is a reflection of professionalism and commitment to legal ethics," explained Kenneth.

Previously, the Indonesian House of Representatives approved President Prabowo Subianto's proposal to grant amnesty to 1,116 convicts. One of them, Secretary General of the PDI-P DPP, Hasto Kristiyanto.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, after holding a consultation meeting with the government represented by the Minister of Law and the Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg).

"Agreements to the presidential letter Regarding granting amnesty to 1,116 people convicted were granted amnesty including Hasto Kristiyanto's brother," Dasco said in a press conference held at the Nusantara III Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan.

It is known, in the bribery case for the interim replacement of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Hasto was sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. Excited, regarding the obstruction of the investigation, Hasto was not proven to have done so.

Amnesty is a general statement issued through or under law regarding the repeal of the consequences of the punishment of a certain criminal act or a group of criminal acts.
