PDIP's Electability Is Still Superior, Gerindra Persists, The Ummat Party Makes A Surprise

JAKARTA - The findings of a survey conducted by Indometer show that PDI Perjuangan's electability is still superior, reaching 21.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the Ummat Party made a surprise by removing PAN, which incidentally was the parent party before it split.

Then, PSI slightly increased its electability from 4.9 percent to 5.0 percent. "In the midst of the stagnation of political parties," said Leonard SB, Executive Director of the Indometer Survey Institute, in a press release in Jakarta, reported by Antara, Friday, May 7.

In the last one year, PSI's electability continued to increase in the range of 4 percent. Meanwhile, the Ummat Party has the opportunity to become a new political party that can gain support from Islamic voters.

"The electability of the Ummah reaches 1.5 percent, up from the previous survey in February 2021 of 0.9 percent," said Leonard.

Gerindra Party is still in second place with electability reaching 13.8 percent, followed by Golkar with 8.0 percent.

Two opposition political parties secured positions in fourth and fifth place, namely Democrats (7.8 percent) and PKS (7.5 percent). Next are PKB (5.6 percent), Nasdem (3.5 percent), PPP (2.3 percent), and PAN (1.0 percent).

The lower ranks are occupied by Perindo (0.5 percent), Hanura (0.2 percent), and Gelora (0.1 percent).

"Among the small parties and newcomers, only the Ummat Party has the opportunity to become a dark horse, compared to for example Gelora, which is also a splinter of PKS," said Leonard.

Meanwhile, other parties such as Berkarya, PBB, and PKPI or the new party Masyumi Reborn did not receive any support at all.

The opportunities for these parties to compete in the 2024 elections are still open, but they will face the parliamentary threshold. There were also 21.8 percent of respondents who said they did not know / did not answer.

The Indometer survey was conducted from 27 April-3 May 2021, by telephone to 1,200 respondents across Indonesia who were randomly selected from the previous survey since 2019.

The survey margin of error is ± 2.98 percent at the 95 percent confidence level.
