JAKARTA - OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, experienced a failed air traffic control system on Friday, which disrupted operations.

The Air Traffic and Navigation Service (ATNS) state company said the system's failure had affected the flight plan management system and was expected to cause delays in departure.

"ATNS is working closely with all relevant stakeholders to manage the situation and minimize the impact on airline passengers and operations," the statement said.

A spokesman said ATNS hoped the situation would be resolved within hours.
