8th CID Held At IKN: Diaspora Indonesia Supports Nusantara To Become A World City

The 8th NUSANTARA Congress of Indonesian Diaspora (CID) was officially held in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN) from July 30 to August 4, 2025. This activity was organized by the Global Indonesian Diaspora Network (IDN), an organization that accommodates Indonesian diaspora around the world.

Carrying the theme 'Together Diaspora Realizing IKN To Become A World City For All', this congress is an important momentum to strengthen diaspora support for the development of IKN as a green, modern, and environmentally friendly city of the future.

Various activities have been prepared to enliven this annual agenda. One of the main attractions is the Bazaar Nusantara, which presents various regional culinary delights as well as superior products for MSMEs from various parts of the archipelago. In addition, the Nusantara Photo Exhibition was also presented, featuring a portrait of the history of Indonesia's struggle for independence, which was strengthened by diaspora contributions in the past.

Carrying the spirit of sustainability, the 8th CID also held the Trade Exhibition Design Eco Fashion Nusantara and the Eco Fashion Show, which featured the work of Indonesian designers with a sustainable and environmentally friendly mode approach.

No less interesting, the Sumpit Nusantara Festival also colored a series of events with traditional Kalimantan cultural attractions and narrow competitions, lifting the wealth of local traditions to the national stage.

On Friday, August 1, 2025, a number of discussions will be held in the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for 3, IKN. This forum is a meeting place for Indonesian diaspora to exchange ideas, experiences, and explore cross-sectoral collaboration for the advancement of the capital city of the archipelago and global diaspora contributions.

Special Staff to the Head of the IKN Authority for Public Communication and Spokesperson for the IKN Authority, Troy Pantouw, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the 8th CID at IKN.

"We welcome and appreciate the presence of the 8th CID at IKN. This is a tangible form of diaspora support for the development of the archipelago as an inclusive and sustainable world city. The active participation of the diaspora shows the spirit of cross-border collaboration for the future progress of Indonesia," said Troy in a written statement received by VOI, Wednesday, July 30.
