JAKARTA The police are investigating the theft of a motorcycle accompanied by a firearm threat that occurred on Jalan Kaji, RT 012/RW 03, Jelambar, West Jakarta, on Tuesday afternoon (29/7/2025). The perpetrator's reckless action was caught on CCTV cameras and the video went viral on social media.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Aprino Tamara, said that his party had gone directly to the scene with the Jatanras team and the West Jakarta Metro Police Resmob.

"This is at the TKP with the Jatanras and Resmob teams. We are still investigating," said Aprino when confirmed.

According to him, the identities of the perpetrators could not be identified because they were wearing all-closed clothes, including face coverings.

"Because he was completely covered in clothes, he got to his face," he explained.

The theft victim has been asked to make an official report to the Grogol Petamburan Police. The police have also asked for information from the victim and several witnesses at the location.

"Currently we are also examining a number of CCTV footage around the scene," added Aprino.

From the video footage circulating, it appears that four perpetrators came using two motorbikes. They wore closed clothes and helmets, making it difficult to identify. The two perpetrators acted as executors, while the other two stood guard on the motorbike, were ready to run away if the situation was unsafe.

After observing around, the two perpetrators approached a metallic green motorbike parked. In a short time, they managed to break into the lock and start the motorcycle engine.

However, when they were about to run away, their action was known by the owner of the motorbike who immediately shouted for help. Realizing his whereabouts were revealed, the perpetrators panicked and tried to escape quickly.

One of the perpetrators opened fire from the motorbike to block the victim's chase. Luckily, neither the residents nor the victims were injured as a result of the gunfire.

Currently, the police are still hunting down the perpetrators and exploring the possibility of being linked to a similar gang that often acts in the West Jakarta area.
