JAKARTA - Member of Commission V DPR RI, Irine Yusiana Roba Putri, highlighted the wave of resignations from 160 teachers from the People's School program. He assessed that the resignation of hundreds of teachers from the program that had just been launched by the government indicated that basic infrastructure development had not yet become a priority.
Irine said that school development should pay attention to the ease of access for students and teachers, so that the teaching and learning process becomes smooth.
"When we talk about education, clean water, sanitation, electricity, and road access are not complementary, but basic needs. How can teachers feel at home teaching if they are placed in locations where the basic needs are not even available?" Irine told reporters, Tuesday, July 29.
Irine also assessed that the resignation of hundreds of teachers at the same time also made clear the fundamental issues that Commission V of the DPR had long feared, namely the lack of cross-sectoral planning in the People's School project.
"The simultaneous hundreds of teachers need to be evaluated and improved in cross-sectoral planning and coordination on the People's School project, especially the fulfillment of infrastructure," he explained.
The member of the Commission in the DPR who is in charge of infrastructure, transportation, and public work (PU) also questioned whether infrastructure such as the drinking water supply system (SPAM) to sanitation is considered in public schools in areas such as North Maluku. Because, said Irine, infrastructure in North Maluku as one of the Outermost, Outermost, and Disadvantaged (3T) areas still needs attention from the Government.
"It is said that there are 100 people's schools, two of which are in North Maluku. My question is, is there a SPAM? Where is the Sanitation? And never prioritize the central government's priority program from Pak Prabowo, built, carried out, but left the surrounding community," he explained.
"So the people's school has SPAM, the sanitation is good, but the village is forgotten there. This often happens. We don't want to be like that," added the North Maluku electoral district legislator.
Irine urges the Ministry of Social Affairs to immediately coordinate with the Ministry of Public Works, PLN and local governments so that every location of the People's School has adequate basic infrastructure from the beginning of planning. Including the availability of infrastructure for teaching staff, especially those whose homes are far from where they teach.
"Both from the accommodation side, transportation, or maybe the availability of mess for teaching staff who live far away. Because many have resigned due to problems with distance from home and where they teach far away," said Irine.
"The government must pay attention to this. The Ministry of Social Affairs must sit together with the Ministry of Public Works and other relevant agencies to ensure that supporting facilities for People's Schools can be met," concluded the Deputy Chairman of the BKSAP DPR RI.
As is known, as many as 160 teachers who were originally going to teach at the People's School were busy resigning. Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul revealed the reason teachers resigned because they felt that their placement in the People's School was far from where they lived.
