Geological Agency Invites Residents To Follow The Hazard Radius Of North Sulawesi Space Mountain

MANADPO - The Geological Agency of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) invites residents to comply with the hazard radius of Mount Ruang activity on Ruang Island, Sitaro Islands Regency, North Sulawesi.

"The current potential danger is in the form of an eruption that produces incandescent material and exposure to volcanic ash that depends on the direction and speed of the wind and lahar when heavy rains fall around Mount Ruang," said Head of the Geological Agency, Muhammad Wafid AN in a report on the activity of Mount Space for the period 1 - 15 July 2025 received in Manado, Antara, Sunday, 27 July.

Based on the results of visual and instrumental monitoring, Mount Ruang's volcanic activity is still at Level II (Alert).

Some of the recommendations that must be obeyed are the people around Mount Ruang and visitors / tourists to remain vigilant and not enter a two-kilometer radius area from the center of the active crater of Mount Ruang.

The public is also advised to always use masks to avoid exposure to volcanic ash that can disrupt the respiratory system.

Furthermore, people who are outside a two-kilometer radius from Mount Ruang are expected to be calm, carry out activities as usual, not be provoked by issues of eruption and continue to follow the development of activities through the MAGMA Indonesia application.

Muhammad Wafid also hopes that the Regional Government, BPBD of North Sulawesi Province and Sitaro Islands Regency will always coordinate with the Room Volcano Observation Post or the Center for Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation - Geological Agency in Bandung.

The level of activity of Mount Ruang, he said, would be re-evaluated periodically, or if there was a significant change in activity.
