SELANGOR - An example in blending with residents as immigrants is shown by the Madura community group living in Malaysia. The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur also expressed appreciation for the community group that contributed to humanitarian activities in Malaysia.
This was stated by the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Hermono in his remarks delivered by the Coordinator of the Cultural Social Information Function (Pensosbud) of the Indonesian Embassy in KL, Wishnu Krisnamurthi at the Inauguration of the Madura Community Unity and Brotherhood Majlis (MPPM-PPMM) 2025-2027 at the Malaysian Men's University Council (UPM), Serdang, Selangor, Sunday.
"He (the ambassador) said that during his time as ambassador and during the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur there was an extraordinary contribution from the Madura community," said Wishnu.
Wishnu said many things that Madurese people have and one of the most visible is the solid unity and brotherhood of the Madurese people.
He hopes it can be imitated by other groups.
"Although there are many organizations, there is never a fuss. The contribution is also extraordinary," said Wishnu.
He said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, not a few Indonesian bodies had to be returned from Malaysia to Indonesia, but gaskets or local corpse delivery agents were very expensive.
Then the Madurese made gaskets for sending bodies and managing bodies starting from hospitals and all of them were filled at affordable prices.
"So the Madurese really help the state and Indonesian citizens. Luckily there are Madurese friends who are willing to think further than others so that it is an extraordinary contribution to Indonesians in Malaysia," said Wishnu.

According to Wishnu, the people of Madura are tough migrants. He hopes that the unity and brotherhood of the Madura people will continue to be preserved.
Meanwhile, Acting General Chairperson of MPPM Abdul Kholik in his speech conveyed that MPPM was founded on November 13, 2022 as a forum for unifying the Madura community in overseas areas.
He said that in two years MPPM has been a hand-held hand when many Indonesian citizens experience various problems such as illness, become victims of fraud, and die without any family taking care of them.
"There are residents who have been sleeping on the side of the road for months, under the heat and rain, without anyone caring, one of them is Mrs. Sumiati, a resident of Sampang, abandoned. Thank God MPPM picked them up, treated them and returned them to their hometowns," he said.
There are also, he said, an Indonesian citizen from Madura named Mr. Lukman who went viral on social media, who was sick could be treated by MPPM and returned to Indonesia.
"But what is the power, God loves me more. After being escorted to his hometown, a few days later, he died," said Kholik.
Kholik further said that currently MPPM already has a hearse and an operational car ready to help Indonesian citizens in Malaysia.
He invited leaders, community leaders and regional officials in Madura to continue to support MPPM's struggle.
